GO Hello friends – I’m very excited about playing the Who tribute show with The  Smithereens at Carnegie Hall . I’ve seen so many terrific performers there, including Sinatra, Jobim, Johnny Otis, Brian Wilson (on the Smile tour), and Red Skelton, to name a few. It’ll be a dream come true to make some noise on this hallowed stage. Hoping to see you!  It would be great to see many of you at a few other events and shows I’ll be involved with in March. My covers combo The Upsiders will be returning to Charlie Blood’s in Garfield, NJ (my hometown) on Saturday March 27.  This is my favorite watering hole and eatery (been there since 1937). Those of you who came to our gig in February now know why! It’s a great hang and a bunch of friends make the scene. What fun! On March 30, The Jim Duffy Combo will be playing The Lakeside Lounge on Ave. B in NYC, doing tunes from Jim’s debut Side One and his latest, Mood Lit (one of Eric “Roscoe” Ambel’s top CDs of 2009, I’ll have you know). It’s a taut little band, with Jim on keyboards, Lance Doss on guitars, Paul Page on the bass and yours truly on tubs. Jim’s music (all instrumental) is a gas and we cook up some nice grooves together. More info at http://www.3dotsmusic.com   The mighty free-form, listener-supported WFMU holds its annual fundraising marathon March 1-14. There is no other radio station in the world like this one and it truly deserves your support. For those of you out of broadcast range (91.1 in the greater NY/NY area and 90.1 in the Hudson Valley), please listen online at www.wfmu.org   And you’ll see what I’m talking about. In addition to info about the marathon, you’ll find links to archives (including fill-ins I’ve done over the past few years), their fab blog, and more fine stash. I’ll be co-hosting a few on-air shifts with Michael Shelley, Irwin, and Kevin Nutt during this time and on Sunday March 14, a slew of WFMU DJs celebrate the end of the fund drive by singing their chosen fave songs (karaoke style) backed by the acclaimed Hoof’n’Mouth Sinfonia (comprised of FMU staffers). This extravaganza will be broadcast live and the show at Maxwell’s in Hoboken is open to the public. I’ll be drumming on a good chunk of the program and even warbling a tune with Dave Amels. Alright! Thanks to everyone who took a minute to wish me a happy birthday. I was a bit overwhelmed and it warmed the cockles of my heart to hear from so many of you! And I’m grateful for your continued support of Late Music. I hear from new fans all the time and it means the world to me.  Don’t forget to check “picture of the day” (click on PHOTOS or link to the right). We update it just about every night.  Stay tuned! DD “If ever there were a 10-star pop (“psych”-, “power”- or otherwise) album this year, Late Music just may be the one. Critical hype? Nope — it’s that jawdroppingly good.” Fred Mills Blurt Magazine March 2010 Brian Wilson 2009 Home CE. copyright Dennis Diken 2009 Contact info
